Please have an opinion!

I firmly believe people should really start thinking about matters without considering things "society" tells them are right or wrong. Like people should totally have an opinion of their own without formed without prejudice. So many peoples beliefs are others beliefs or things they have heard other people say. I wish a lot more people were independent thinkers. I believe most of us are capable of being so - just that capability has to be tapped.

“Society exists only as a mental concept; in the real world there are only individuals.”

Oscar Wilde

Too much social conditioning at a young age has to be avoided amongst children. Everyone should get a chance to explore their own mind and the world around them and come to their own conclusions.

Specially Indian parents should stop being so afraid that their little "babies" (even 20 year olds sometimes) will be corrupted by the "outside world" and are so naive that they need guidance.

Parents, seriously... at some point kids stop being babies and grow into individuals.. start nurturing that and stop making sissies out of your children. I recently saw parents waiting for their children to finish TYBCom exams (equivalent to "undergrad" in other parts of the world) outside the fucking examination centre (college) for 2 or 3 hours and just getting tensed the crap out of in that time period. Seriously? You didn't even need to pick them up and drop them in the first place. They are fucking 21 - grown up enough to reach where they want. They will come home and tell you how their exam was. They are not in fucking 8th grade or anything any more.

By this time abroad, a lot of people have "moved out" of their parents homes (which also, I think, can be an extreme move sometimes - practically impossible in India). By this post I am not encouraging "moving out" or anything (not discouraging either) but I am just requesting overprotective parents to stop unnecessarily controlling their adult children's lives because beyond a certain point people grow up and learn. Strike that balance. Your kids might make mistakes, when that happens be there to help them learn from the experience. But don't stop the experiences themselves from being created.

Don't give this sheltered and pampered life to your children where they are in a fucking shell all the time (specially Indian parents)... let them free!

This is not written out of anything personal because even though I live in my parents house, I have all freedom to do most things I want. My family trusts me and knows I have strong morals and I will eventually handle myself. But I have observed some sissy friends of mine and this very pattern of upbringing in their families so I needed to vent it once and for all. And 20 - year olds --- stop considering yourself as babies as well!

Power of belief - Attitude is everything

Over the last few months I have realised the power that something like belief can have over our world experiences. I am heading in the direction of the Law of Attraction. A basic introduction can be googled but I can tell you by experience that attitude certainly is everything. I choose to live a wonderful and happy life by having a positive attitude. YOUR world is a mere reflection of your thoughts. Some things manifest fast and some take a little more time but eventually you bring to yourself everything you wanted (or did not want - if thats what you concentrated on). I have turned around my life in the last one year just by virtue of having the attitude I have.

Also, I look at life as a commitment to self-betterment. Theres so much to learn - the most important quality that allows us to do that is the quality of asking. Of not being too proud to admit that you don't know... but you are willing to learn. That is why I dislike fake pride. People who think "I'm too good to ask someone for help" The wisest man is he who knows he knows nothing for it is impossible for us to learn everything that the world and life has to teach us till the last day we are alive. So every day in every way we should look to get better.

And about happiness - what is it?

It can be something as simple as when you come home to a smile on your childs face to getting a promotion or all of these things. Happiness is so subjective. Everyone has a different definition of this ongoing process of happiness. Thats why I believe people should do what they want to do. Happiness can very well be (infact it often is) derived from materialistic sources. I don't see much wrong with that but there should be a balance in life. Relationships and emotions are the most important things. The pursuit for materialistic pleasures shouldn't consume you to an extent where you forget everything else. But you should try and attract every materialistic pleasure you genuinely want to experience and have fun with the Law of Attraction.

I am not going to be a saint here - In my ideal world, I would have a lovely house by the sea, an extremely sexy, funny and loyal better half and amazing friends around me. I would travel anywhere in the world at will. I would be a billionaire!

So many dreams, so many desires which are coming true as I type this post. This blog is going to record my journey to greatness. So fasten your seatbelts and get ready for a crazy ride.

My views on religion

I have given up all belief in institutionalized religion. I firmly believe in God but I don't feel the need to give him a name or a form mostly because I believe it is not possible. God is this energy I can feel everywhere around me and in everything I look at.

Anyway a lot of ridiculous things are being done in the name of religion. For me - in life you should have faith in a higher power, be charitable, not go around constantly ridiculing others or enforce anything upon them... have love and respect for people and enjoy your life. I also do believe in a few religious concepts such as Karma. I am greatly interested in the afterlife. Since I believe in a "formless" god, you can say it is influenced from Islam or the "nirgun" path in Hinduism. Some how a lot of my beliefs reflect the teachings of Saint Kabir (co - incidence)

Religion restricts and controls people so much. It is so needless. People just put all their fears and insecurities into those deities and find comfort in it. And then religion lays down so many things "you should" and "shouldn't do" to please God. I don't think God is that demanding.

God is inside you - God is inside other people. And no one person or "guru" can ever tell me what I should do to please god... that is ridiculous. So I hate all these self-proclaimed babas and reincarnations of Gods.. that is such hogwash. I believe they are all just scamming us. Go about forming your own beliefs... let them even be influenced by religious books but please don't let any random dude with a beard and a fake aura of holiness around him tell you how you should pray and what you should believe. They're just so fake. And I always make sure not to judge people by their religion. Every single person is different and religion is no reason not to give a wonderful person a chance to be a part of your life. So yeah, I believe racism sucks. Religious stereotypes suck. There are good people and bad people and thats it.

Your conscience is your God.

Following a certain moral code while going about living your life is itself worship.

Worship is also giving to people who need things you have in excess and wouldn't hurt you to give away.

I like to keep my life philosophy simple and uncomplicated. I am grateful for the wonderful life I have and I trust god for a wonderful future as well.

This and every other post on my blog is open to discussion :)

Hello world!

For long I have felt like sharing my views and opinions with the world but I didn't want the "real" me to be exposed for various reasons. But since my mind is always full of thoughts which I feel are interesting and can spark discussions or even provide entertainment, I decided to write anonymously. The posts on this blog will not necessarily be Bombay-centric (Yes, I choose to call it Bombay - not Mumbai) but more general ... like applicable to people all over the world. Because no matter where we live, our experiences often teach us similar lessons. I make this sound so serious already... Believe me it wont be serious. I am a funny person and I will make sure this is an entertaining ride. I also never wrote a blog for the fear of feeling like a narcissist. But you know what? I just need to vent sometimes. And this is a good platform. So here we go!
